Sacraments

The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation and are the foundations of Christian life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, are strengthened by Confirmation, and nourished by the Eucharist. For information on these three sacraments as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, see Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
Students prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during the same year, and are eligible during or after they reach second grade. Essential for the preparation of First Communion is regular worship in Sunday Mass, participation in religious education, and a commitment on the part of the parents to the religious education of their children after the first reception of Communion.
Sacramental preparation includes (in addition to regular religious education classes) two parent and child workshops for each Sacrament. First Reconciliation is celebrated in December. First Eucharist is celebrated in May.
